Dracula is ready to retire and hand over the keys of the hotel to Mavis and Johnny. However, a last-minute change of heart leads him to lie to Johnny, claiming a "monster real-estate law" prevents humans from owning the hotel. Desperate to fit in, Johnny uses Van Helsing's ray to become a monster—but the device misfires, turning Drac and his friends into ordinary humans. Stripped of his powers and trapped in a human body, Drac must team up with a dragon-like Johnny and race across the globe to South America to find a new crystal and reverse the spell before it becomes permanent.
