The story kicks off after the death of Alan's father. The group—Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), and Doug (Justin Bartha)—stages an intervention to take Alan (Zach Galifianakis) to a rehab facility. On the way, they are ambushed by a mob boss named Marshall (John Goodman), who kidnaps Doug. To save him, the trio must track down the escaped Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong), who allegedly stole millions in gold from Marshall.
